RADIO FORUM CALL
MAY 10th TO 13th 2006

The fourth Summit between the poltical and economical leaders of Latin
America, the Caribbean countries (LAC) and the European Union (EU) will
take place in Vienna from May 10th to 13th. Parallel to the official
summit social movements and non-governmental organisations from both
regions will organise a summit which is named “Linking Alternatives 2”
(Enlazando Alternativas 2).
During the four days of the summit to be held in Vienna, not only will
there be a strong rejection to the neoliberal policies and the
agreements signed between the UE and Latin America, but the development
policies and militarism in both continents, will also be questioned. There
will also be a Peoples’ Tribunal on European transnationals and the
power of corporations in Latin America and the Caribbean.

What is Radio Forum?
Radio Forum will be present in the four days of activities to be held in
Vienna. Radio Forum is a shared space promoted by Linking Alternatives 2
and European and Latin American community radios, which was successfully
developed in previous events such as the Third Peoples’ Summit held in
Mar del Plata, and the 6th World Social Forum, held in Caracas,
Venezuela. Radio Forum is an initiative of technological convergence that
comprises the world of community radios, networks, and other actors linked
with the New Information and Communication Technologies (ICT), by becoming
a project of free radio production. Radio Forum contributes to
strengthening the cooperation links between radios from all over the
world, by means of a strategic use of Information and Communication
Technologies (ICT) and it creates a common space for independent media.
The event will be aired and streamed on the Internet through a studio
placed at the core of the meeting. The programming will be nonstop and
multilingual, at: www.foroderadios.fm.
We invite all the organizations that have radio experience to
participate of this event, in order to strengthen a place that has become
the voice of the Latin American peoples and social movements that struggle
for a fairer world.
How to participate?
All the interested people and radio stations can participate of the shared
programming between May 10th to 13th in Vienna, by doing live shows,
interviews and reports from the events.
The programming will be available in different languages. Before the
beginning of the event, the shared programming will be coordinated and
there will be a series of workshops.
